With language localization the static text on your Eventive watch site will be displayed in the preferred language configured in your audience members’ browser settings, provided that the language setting matches a language option currently being offered by Eventive.
Available Language Libraries
Currently language localization offers 4 language options for Eventive Virtual; French, German, Spanish, and Hebrew.
Note: We also have language libraries for Danish, Portuguese (Brazil), and Chinese (Simplified - ZH). If you need one of these language alternatives, please let us know by reaching out to Eventive Support and letting us know the dates of your event and your anticipated audience size. We try our best to accommodate language requirements. Any change requests need to be balanced with the language requirements of all Eventive Virtual users - not all requests may be accommodated.
In addition to automatically detecting the preferred language in your browser settings, a language switcher is provided at the bottom of each page on your virtual watch site.
What do you mean by static text?
Static text refers to any of the text on your watch site that is not customizable. This would include text like the following:
the default unlock and watch button text
unlock and watch window verbiage
the give as a gift option
some of the navigational links
the headings corresponding to each credit in a film record
the number of films in a package
Etc.
Any field text that corresponds to a configurable field in your configurator, film records and screening setups are currently not translated by the language localization feature.
Here is a screenshot to illustrate what is currently translated on a screening page.
Note: The duration of unlock and watch windows are not translated because they are not static text. In the screenshot above, please note how the unlock window is displayed as “7 days” and the watch window is displayed as “24 hours”.
The login modal, content library and tv app configuration pages are also translated using language localization.
Note: The customer account settings are not translated using language localization because the account settings are found on the Eventive native site and language localization currently only applies to Eventive Virtual.
What about the rest of the text?
Any text that you enter in a customizable field will not be translated. If you need to offer translated text you might consider entering the translation directly into the required fields.
Here is an example of a film description that is not translated:
Here is an example where a translation has also been added to the film description field. In this example, the English text shows along with the Spanish text. Depending on your audience, you may choose which version to present first.
The translation is a little funny, can you make changes to a word or a phrase?
When Eventive makes a new language library available, the text will be a literal translation from English and may need some editing in order to correct any translation oddities, errors and inaccuracies.
When requesting a new language, you will be asked to review your site and provide a list of corrections. Eventive does not have language experts on staff, so we rely on your familiarity with the language you are requesting to help improve the language libraries.
Even if you haven’t specifically requested a particular language to be added to the language switcher, if you see any text that can be improved, please let us know by reaching out to Eventive Support. Please keep in mind any edits relayed back to us will also take up to a few days to turnaround.
Troubleshooting Language Localization
“Help, the page is stuck in French!”
It occasionally happens that the language localization settings will interpret your browser settings and may present you with a language that you or an audience member weren’t expecting. If this happens, please be sure to check your browser language settings.
Here are some instructions on where to find the browser language settings for a variety of different browsers:
Regardless of your browser settings, you can always change the language presented to you on your Eventive Virtual watch site by using the language switcher located at the very bottom of each page.
