Error Messages
The code "•••" is not currently active
This is the #1 issue for discount codes, and occurs when the discount code is disabled. Open the discount code edit page and make sure "Active" is selected.
The code "•••" has expired
This error occurs when the expiration date and time for a discount code has passed. Open the discount code edit page and make sure the expiration date and time are correct.
If the discount is not meant to have a specified end time, uncheck “Include an expiration date for this discount”.
The code "•••" does not exist
Double check the code entered. Make sure you're using a discount code from the same event bucket -- discount codes do not work across event buckets, only within the event bucket that they're created.
This discount does not apply to the current order
The "Target" of the discount code used does not match the order. For example, perhaps a customer was trying to use a discount code to buy a pass, but the discount code targets only ticket orders. Check that the discount code is targeted correctly, and read our guide to targeting discounts.
The maximum number of uses for this discount has been reached
The "Restrictions" of the discount code have been exceeded for the customer. Check that the discount code's restrictions are applied correctly, and read our guide to discount restrictions.
The maximum number of uses for this discount code has been reached
The specific word "code" here means that the particular code has exhausted its uses as part of a multicode discount.
Error: "Maximum # of Discounts Has Been Used"
If you encounter an error message stating, "Maximum # of discounts has been used" when applying a discount code, verify the following:
Settings Adjustment: Ensure the box labeled "Apply to all Ticket Orders" is checked in your discount code settings.
Applying this change may resolve this issue and allow the discount code to function properly.
Missing 'Have a Discount Code?' Option
If you do not see the 'Have a discount code?' option when unlocking a screening, the problem could be related to the type of pricing you have set up:
Sliding Scale Pricing: Discount codes are incompatible with "Pay What You Can" pricing setups. To enable the discount code feature, consider creating a general ticket bucket with a fixed price instead.
Direct Solutions: If discount codes cannot be integrated, tickets can be issued directly through the box office, allowing manual application of the code. Additionally, codes can be applied for group sales or VIP ticketing purposes where applicable. Ensure your pricing structure accommodates the use of discount codes to avoid this issue.
Discount Code Usage Restrictions
Discount codes are subject to specific rules and limitations designed to maintain fairness and prevent misuse:
Maximum Tickets: Each discount code allows up to 4 tickets total, with a limit of 4 tickets per event per individual transaction.
Prevention of Repeat Usage: To prevent repeated use of the same code for an event, you may want to further limit the number of items per person. Configure the codes while keeping these restrictions in mind, as these rules ensure balanced and fair access for all attendees.
