Using Quantity Price Breaks, let’s configure a pass sales page to sell two memberships with the click of one button, for a discounted price.

Create a Single Membership

To start, we’ll need to create a single membership.

For this example, we’ve created a recurring cinema membership that renews annually and has a regular price of $75.00 per year.

For this example, the price of the single membership should be enough that you could comfortably offer a price break when someone orders two or more memberships.

In this example, a $75 membership gives the member:

  • 4 free tickets to regular physical events (excluding special events)

  • 20% off all other physical events and virtual screenings

  • 10% off all item sales (for our cinema this will include concessions and merch)

For our example cinema, they feel they can comfortably sell two of these memberships for $60 and still make a reasonable profit. Please feel free to adjust the value offering as you see fit, this is just an example.

Adding a Quantity Price Break

To make it possible to sell this membership as a dual membership, let’s add a quantity price break. Quantity price breaks are located in the general settings tab of the pass bucket.

You can add more than one quantity price break to a pass. If you wanted to, you could add another price break at 4 passes, 6 passes, etc. You just need to make sure that your pricing options align with your revenue goals, be aware that too deep of a discount can undermine your earnings.

For the sake of simplicity, we will continue with only one quantity price break.

Configuring your Membership Sales Page

The next step is to add your single and dual memberships to your membership sales page.

Go to your event bucket settings, launch the configurator and open the ‘Passes’ tab.

In the passes tab, add the individual membership to the pass table twice. The first will be used to sell Single Memberships, the second will be used to sell Dual Memberships using the quantity price break that you configured previously.

In the Pass Details section, add a description for the individual membership. In these settings, make sure that the default quantity is set to one.

Continue to the next pass in the Pass Details section to configure the dual membership. Add a description to let your customers know that for buying 2 or more memberships they are getting a volume discount. In these settings, make sure that the default quantity is set to 2.

Save these settings and then go to the pass sales page on your Eventive native site.

You’ll see that the pass table is now offering two membership options, both options are set up using the same pass bucket, the individual membership can be bought for $75 and the dual membership (two individual memberships) are being offered for $120 ($60 each using the quantity price break).

What if someone tries to buy more than 2 memberships?

In the checkout modal for the dual membership, the customer can still toggle the quantity of the passes in the cart. If they add more memberships to the order they will get any additional memberships for $60 each (ie. 3 memberships for $180, 4 memberships for $240, etc.).

When customers buy more than one membership, they may be interested in transferring additional memberships to the friends and family that are going to be using those memberships. You might consider including information about transferring passes in the pass order confirmation email.
