Rush tickets are a great way to maximize your revenue and fill your events to capacity. For popular events and large venues where you may be processing numerous rush line admissions every second counts. Multiplied across numerous patrons, the few seconds required to process a rush pay order could slow down your theater load time and slightly delay the start of your event.

A great solution to decrease the time of each rush ticket order is to offer a Rush Line Pass.

What is a Rush Line Pass?

A Rush Line Pass is a pass that has a 0% or $0 discount set as the result in the pass rule. You can offer a Rush Line pass for $0 or you can sell it for a nominal fee - maybe $1 or $2.

Benefits of a Rush Line Pass

Apart from helping to process rush ticket orders faster, the use of a rush line pass has some additional benefits.

Since the ticket is issued to the passholder, the rush line ticket is connected to the customer account. Since the rush ticket is connected to a customer account, the customer would receive a ballot to vote on any eligible films in the screening if you are using Online Balloting for Physical Events.

Also since the ticket is issued to the passholder and is connected with the customer’s account, the transaction can be more easily located for troubleshooting purposes if necessary.

Ensure that Customer has a valid Method of Payment on File

The important thing to do with a rush line pass is to make sure that the customer has their credit card connected to their Eventive profile. That way when the pass is scanned by the scanner when it is in Rush Pass mode, the scanner will create a paid order and issue the rush ticket to the customer account. There are 2 ways to make sure that the customer credit card is associated with their Eventive profile:

  • Charge for the Rush Line Pass: if the customer needs to pay for the pass, they will need to use their credit card - this will ensure that their card details are entered and ready for when the Rush Line Pass is scanned for entry.

  • Collect payment method for $0 pass sale: This will allow you to offer a Rush Line Pass for $0, but will require them to enter their credit card details at the point of placing the order. Their card will not be charged at this point, it will just be connected to their customer profile so that it is ready to be charged when they scan their Rush Pass for admission. This is an advanced setting that can be enabled on the individual pass bucket level. This is a setting that is not visible in your Eventive Dashboard. If you would like to enable this setting for one or more of your pass buckets, please reach out to Eventive Support and they can turn this on for you.

Sample Configuration of a Rush Line Pass

General Settings:

In this example pass bucket, an unlimited quantity of passes are available for sale and the Rush Line Pass is free. Advance reservations are not required for this pass type and the requirement to collect a payment method for $0 pass sales has been enabled.

Pass Rules:

For this example pass bucket, the pass rule applies only to ticket orders for Physical Events, there is no discount provided by the pass. Pass holders are only allowed to order one ticket per event per pass and the pass is enabled for Rush Line ticket orders only - no advance reservations are allowed.

If there are special events (galas, private screenings, press and industry events) that you want to exclude from the Rush Line Pass you can also do that by configuring a few exclusions.

You might also consider how many tickets per event that you would like to allow to be purchased by each pass. In this case, only one ticket has been allowed per pass, but it is also common for a customer in a rush line to be allowed to purchase up to 2 tickets provided that the customers using the tickets are present in the line. Here is an alternate configuration for the use restrictions that would allow two tickets to be purchased using the pass. To order two tickets, the pass would need to be scanned twice in Rush pass mode.
